Medicine is meant to relieve pain, but often it causes even more of it. Not physical suffering, but the loss of dignity, the feeling of humiliation, and being lectured in spaces where you already arrive vulnerable.
Why does this happen? Who is responsible for the fact that Ukrainian doctors often perceive any form of difference as pathology or shame? And how can we find friendly healthcare providers and receive quality medical care? We’ll talk about all this in the lecture-dialogue “Health and Dignity: How to Navigate the Medical System.”
Speaker: Daryna Dmytriievska — family doctor, specialist in gender transition and non-discrimination in healthcare, HIV consultant, sex educator
