Almost a decade since larger-than-life glam-rock enigma Brian Slade disappeared from the public eye, an investigative journalist, Arthur Stuart, is on assignment to uncover the truth behind his former idol.
Todd Haynes showed an early interest in art, making amateur films and painting as a child. He studied art and semiotics at Brown University before moving to New York City, where he made the controversial short film SUPERSTAR: THE KAREN CARPENTER STORY (1987), using dolls instead of actors. His first feature, POISON (1991), was attacked by conservatives but won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and became a cornerstone of New Queer Cinema.
Haynes gained acclaim and a measure of mainstream success with FAR FROM HEAVEN (2002), earning his first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
