LIL NAS X: LONG LIVE MONTERO follows trailblazing rapper, singer, and songwriter, Lil Nas X, as he embarks on his first ever tour. This diaristic film is a surprisingly intimate portrait of an artist navigating identity, family, expectations and acceptance, all while reflecting on his place within the legacy of Black, queer performers.
Carlos López Estrada is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker from Mexico City. He began his career directing music videos for musicians like Billie Eilish, Father John Misty, Thundercat and Flying Lotus, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Clipping. Carlos’s film, RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON was released by Disney in March of 2021 and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Zac Manuel is an award–winning, New Orleans bred-and-based filmmaker, and the son of a touring jazz musician and a community builder at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. His work in documentary and music video explores intimacy, Black masculinity, class, identity and inheritance.
