Azra, a Pakistani woman living in Toronto, is worlds apart from her conservative Muslim mother. When her father suddenly dies on a trip home to Pakistan, Azra finds herself on a Bollywood-inspired journey through memories, both real and imagined, from her mother’s youth in Karachi to her own coming-of-age in rural Canada.
Fawzia Mirza is a Canadian writer and director. She co-wrote and starred in the feature SIGNATURE MOVE, which world premiered at SXSW, screened 150+ film festivals, won 15 awards and was listed in “25 of the Best Lesbian Films of All Time” by Harper’s Bazaar. Her feature script HEIRLOOM was named to the 2022 Muslim List, published by The Black List. Fawzia co-founded Baby Daal Productions with wife Andria Wilson Mirza.
